Accounting Specialist

Position Summary

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate application of debtor and customer payments in CLS Collections Software, supporting the firm's day-to-day accounting operations. This role works closely with Clients and Operations to research and resolve payment exceptions, process remittances and refunds, and complete daily banking transactions in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply debtor and customer payments (check, ACH, and wire) to the appropriate accounts in Collections Software accurately and on time.
• Analyze and resolve payment exceptions that cannot be readily applied, partnering with Management and Operations to research discrepancies.
• Assist with the remittance of debtor funds to clients in accordance with established schedules.
• Perform remote bank deposits and other bank transactions as needed.
• Enter check requests (accounts payable) in Collections software.
• Review overpaid accounts and process refunds to consumers.
• Initiate ACH and wire payments to vendors and clients through the firm's online banking platform.
• Manipulate and analyze data in Excel to support reconciliation and reporting needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and meet strict internal and external deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Willingness to learn new systems and processes and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
