Job Description

The Quality Management Coordinator plays a vital role within the Quality Management team by overseeing hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives. This position is responsible for assisting in the formulation and coordination of quality objectives to enhance patient outcomes, meet evidence-based standards, and optimize cost efficiency. The coordinator also supports periodic collaboration with hospital committees to advance quality management goals.

 

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate quality improvement initiatives across the hospital
  • Analyze data to track performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Support the design and implementation of quality improvement projects
  • Coordinate quality objectives to align with organizational goals
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with evidence-based standards and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate periodically with hospital committees related to quality management

 

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management, Nursing, or related Allied Health degree program, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years clinical or hospital experience
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database tools for data abstraction

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience in clinical or hospital settings
  • Registered Nurse or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or related field
  • Experience with Joint Commission regulations and Period Performance Review software
  • Working knowledge of Meditech software
  • Experience coordinating quality improvement projects and presentations


Duties & Responsibilities:

General:

  • Monitor and evaluation hospital-wide Quality Improvement Program initiatives with focus on process improvement implementation.
  • Plan, develop, and implement QI software systems to support the QI program.
  • Monitor process/outcome quality assessment studies that are pertinent to the Quality Improvement program.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and collection of data for inclusion in the Quality Improvement reports.
  • Compile reports and present findings to the appropriate medical staff, departments, or hospital committees.
  • Utilize various computer systems for tracking and trending.
  • Complete various statistical reports and create supporting graphical diagrams, as needed.
  • Provide support services to departments and providers needing assistance in developing Quality Improvement studies.
  • Review clinical records and perform department/unit quality and safety surveys.
  • Assist management in preparation for and during any regulatory surveys.
  • Promote hospital approach of “Continuous Survey Readiness”.
  • Educate staff regarding quality improvement processes, activities, and patient safety.
  • Maintain compliance with JCAHO standards.
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring work activities in order to keep management informed of current overall quality status including identified improvement opportunities.
  • Keep informed of current professional standards and represent hospital at various external organization meetings.
  • Conduct Risk Management assessment, as needed.
  • Development of Clinical Protocols and order sets.
  • Develop and maintain Quality Measures Dashboard.
