Back Office Medical Assistant - $28/hr - Goleta & Santa Barbara

We are seeking a talented and experienced Back Office Medical Assistant to join our busy Podiatry practice in Goleta, with frequent travel to the Santa Barbara location. This full-time role supports a high patient volume of back office clinical support. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates excellent communication skills, and partners effectively with both patients and a dedicated clinical team using common EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner.

Responsibilities

• Manage phone communications and respond promptly to patient inquiries
• Obtain insurance authorizations and verify patient benefits accurately
• Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring smooth patient flow
• Communicate treatment plans clearly and serve as liaison between doctors and patients
• Prepare exam rooms and support clinical procedures, including X-rays
• Provide coverage and assistance at both Goleta and Santa Barbara offices as needed
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative team members to maintain workflow efficiency
• Balance back office medical assisting tasks with some front office duties.

Required Qualifications

• Proficient in medical terminology and insurance verification processes
• Experience with appointment scheduling and effective patient communication
• Strong time management and organizational skills to handle a high volume of patients
• Ability to work collaboratively within a clinical team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• One or more years of medical assisting experience
• Associate degree in Medical Assisting or related field preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential
• Skilled in multitasking and managing patient communication efficiently
• Familiarity with common EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner
