Household & Personal Support Position

THIS POSITION IS FOR THE OWNERS OF METALCRAFT--SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL BE WORKING FOR THE OWNERS AND NOT THE COMPANY

We are seeking a dependable, caring, and hardworking individual to provide household assistance and personal support for an older couple. This is an active, hands-on position for someone who enjoys helping others and is comfortable moving between caregiving, housekeeping, pet care, errands, and outdoor responsibilities.

This is not a companion-sitting position. We are not looking for someone simply to sit with or visit with family members. The person hired will be expected to work actively and productively for approximately 6–9 hours each workday. Applicants should be energetic, self-motivated, physically capable, and willing to move from one responsibility to another throughout the day.

The right person will be trustworthy, observant, flexible, and willing to help wherever needed.

Primary Responsibilities

Personal Assistance

Provide general assistance with daily activities as needed.

Accompany family to medical appointments, take notes when requested, and help communicate appointment information to the family.

Ride to or drive to appointments, shopping, errands, or other destinations.

Drive when requested and assist with errands, purchases, and transportation needs.

Provide reminders and other non-medical support as needed.

Communicate any concerns or changes in well-being to the family.

Household Responsibilities

Perform routine household cleaning, including bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and common areas.

Wash, dry, fold, and put away laundry.

Change bed linens and help keep the home clean and organized.

Keep porches, entryways, and outdoor sitting areas clean and orderly.

Help clean and organize the garage and household storage areas.

Notice tasks that need attention and complete them without requiring constant direction.

Pet Care

Feed and provide water for the dogs according to their regular schedule.

Clean and maintain the dog pens and surrounding areas.

Assist with other basic pet-care needs as requested.

Be comfortable working around dogs.

Outdoor and Seasonal Assistance

Water and help maintain porch plants and flowers.

Sweep and clean porches, walkways, and outdoor areas.

Assist with light seasonal projects and household upkeep.

Be willing to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Company and Family Meal Assistance

Help prepare for occasional company or family meals.

Qualifications

CNA certification or previous caregiving experience is preferred but may not be required for the right person.

Previous experience in home care, housekeeping, personal assistance, or a similar position is helpful.

Must be dependable, honest, patient, respectful, and able to maintain confidentiality.

Must understand that this is an active working position—not a sitting or companionship-only role.

Must be willing and able to work actively for approximately 6–9 hours per day.

Must have a valid driver’s license, a safe driving record, and reliable transportation.

Must be comfortable and willing to drive in snow and other winter weather conditions.

Must be comfortable performing both caregiving and household duties.

Must be able to work independently, stay productive, and recognize what needs to be done.

Must be comfortable around dogs and willing to clean animal areas.

Must be physically able to stand, walk, bend, lift household items, perform cleaning duties, and work outdoors.

Must be willing to undergo reference and background checks as well as drug testing.
