Job Summary

We are seeking Aerospace Structural Composite Design Engineers to design mechanical and structural components for aerospace applications from concept through production. The role combines aircraft structural design, composite part design, manufacturing considerations, analysis, testing, and detailed engineering documentation. The ideal candidate will have strong composite design experience and Siemens NX CAD experience, along with knowledge of aircraft structures and ASME Y14.5/GD&T.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical and structural systems and products based on engineering requirements and constraints.
  • Develop composite parts and structures, including composite lay-up designs.
  • Perform simple FEA and classical hand calculations to optimize designs.
  • Design composite components with consideration for tooling, manufacturing, assembly, and integration.
  • Modify designs based on cost and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Work with structural analysis teams to verify designs before fabrication.
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings using ASME Y14.5 and GD&T standards.
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Define and support component, system-level, and aircraft-level verification and testing.
  • Design fixtures and test setups and participate in testing activities.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and assembly issues.
  • Coordinate with Materials, Structures, Aerodynamics, manufacturing, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Conduct design reviews and engineering presentations.
  • Document design changes, test results, engineering information, and product reports.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 3–7 years of mechanical design experience.
  • Candidates without a degree must have 10–15 years of design experience.
  • Experience with aircraft structural design principles.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Composite lay-up design
    • Composite part design
    • Composite tooling design
    • Design for composite manufacturing, assembly, and integration
    • Design for machine manufacturing
    • Fixture design
    • Test setup
    • Hardware and material selection
  • Siemens NX CAD experience is required.
  • Experience with ASME Y14.5 / GD&T.
  • Ability to work across multiple aerospace engineering disciplines, including Materials, Structures, and Aerodynamics.
  • Strong communication and design-review skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing aircraft landing gear systems or components.
  • Experience with hydraulic actuators or hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with structural analysis/FEA.
  • Experience taking composite designs from concept through production.


Compensation

  • Salary: $115,000–$165,000 annually
  • Bonus: Discretionary bonus based on company KPIs
