Job Description
Seeking a Firmware Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity with a leading global provider of connected home solutions. This role will develop sophisticated embedded firmware and communication interfaces that power next-generation smart home products, spanning rapid prototyping through Edge2Cloud deployment for remote monitoring and OTA updates.
The contract is expected to run 12 to 18 months with a strong possibility of conversion to a permanent role. It offers a hybrid schedule (remote Mondays and Fridays), a flexible start time, PTO, and full benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop embedded firmware using C/C++ for connected home and IoT devices
- Work within FreeRTOS and embedded Linux environments to support product functionality
- Implement and troubleshoot wireless protocols including WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Matter, and Thread
- Build rapid prototypes to test new firmware concepts and validate design approaches
- Design communication interfaces between embedded devices and cloud platforms
- Develop Edge2Cloud solutions supporting remote monitoring and over-the-air (OTA) updates
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience developing embedded firmware in C/C++
- Familiarity with FreeRTOS and/or embedded Linux
- Experience with wireless communication protocols such as WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Matter, or Thread
- Experience designing Edge2Cloud architectures for remote monitoring and OTA update capabilities
- Background in embedded systems development for connected/smart home or consumer IoT products
