Job Description
The Certified Surgical Tech plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of a multispecialty surgical team typically composed of 4-6 members. Working standard day shifts and reporting to the Lead Surgical Technologist, this professional is responsible for preparing the operating room, managing sterile instruments, and supporting surgical procedures with a focus on patient safety and efficiency.
13 Week Contract with the option to extend
36 hours per week - 7 am - 7 pm
Weekend Shift Requirements: Required to work weekend shift in lieu of weekday shift as need for department needs.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical instruments and supplies
- Set up and organize the operating room for various multispecialty surgeries
- Assist surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures
- Ensure equipment functionality and proper maintenance
- Manage surgical inventory and restock supplies
- Monitor compliance with sterile techniques and safety protocols
- Collaborate effectively with surgical team members
- Document surgical procedures and instrument usage accurately
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in surgical technology
- Certificate in Surgical Technology
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from NBSTSA
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Expertise in sterile technique and surgical instrument handling
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy and operating room protocols
- Commitment to patient safety and quality care
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and attention to detail
