Nurse Manager, Oncology

Position Overview

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the clinical, operational, and fiscal management of a nursing unit or service line. This role leads quality improvement initiatives, supports staff development, manages staffing and resources, and promotes patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily clinical, operational, staffing, and environmental workflows.
• Manage unit budgets, staffing plans, payroll, and resource allocation.
• Monitor quality and patient satisfaction metrics and lead performance improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
• Recruit, supervise, evaluate, and develop nursing staff.
• Provide clinical guidance, mentorship, orientation, and ongoing staff education.
• Address patient concerns, safety issues, and clinical investigations.
• Support shared governance and staff participation in unit-based decision-making.
• Lead regular staff meetings and promote a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Active New York State RN license.
• BSN required; MSN or related master's degree preferred.
• Current BLS required
• Nursing leadership certification preferred and may be required within two years of eligibility.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant oncology clinical nursing experience; 5 years preferred.
• Previous nursing management or leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Strong communication, conflict resolution, delegation, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with EMR systems, Microsoft Office, and clinical data platforms.
