Scanner Operator
Location: Washington, DC — Onsite
Employment Type: Long-Term Contract
Clearance: Public Trust

Position Overview
A Federal Government Agency is seeking four (4) experienced Scanner Operators to support a dedicated Service Center responsible primarily for scanning hard-copy evidence and producing high-volume print materials organized into binders.
The ideal candidates will have hands-on expertise operating high-powered scanning and printing equipment, including Canon or Xerox multifunction machines and desktop scanners, and will be comfortable managing large-volume litigation support projects in a fast-paced environment.
Scanner Operators may scan up to 12,000 pages per week and print up to 15,000 pages per week while maintaining strict quality-control standards and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate digital image scanning equipment to capture images and generate associated OCR text.
- Perform large-scale scanning and printing projects using Canon, Xerox, and related equipment.
- Follow established scanning, processing, and quality-control procedures.
- Prepare documents for scanning, including disassembly, logical breaks, unitization, and reassembly.
- Record file-level and physical attachment information during the scanning process.
- Operate binding and cutting equipment, including hole punches, VeloBind equipment, and related machinery.
- Label, bind, and assemble exhibits and demonstratives.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
- Handle equipment service calls as required.
- Replace toner in dedicated Service Center equipment and potentially floor machines.
- Maintain scanning, task, and equipment-maintenance logs.
- Maintain accurate inventory of supplies, including paper, colored paper, binders, clips, staples, toner, tabs, labels, and other materials.
- Ensure the Service Center is adequately stocked and operational at all times.
- Produce high-quality work while meeting demanding deadlines and operating under time pressure.
- Support other Service Center and litigation-support activities as required.
Basic Qualifications
- At least one year of experience working with image scanning and conversion equipment.
- Hands-on experience operating the specific equipment used in the Service Center, preferably Canon or Xerox equipment.
- Ability to set up, operate, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on scanning and printing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Ability to work effectively under demanding conditions and time constraints.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous litigation support experience.
- Hands-on experience in a Windows office automation environment, such as JCON.
- Trial support experience.
- Undergraduate degree preferred.
Work Environment
This is an onsite position in Washington, DC supporting a federal government service center. The role involves frequent operation of scanning, printing, binding, and document-production equipment and may require handling high-volume workloads and physical documents.
