Nutritious meals, organized systems, and dependable routines are all part of creating a positive experience for children. As our Cook, you’ll manage the daily work of meal service with a strong focus on sanitation, compliance, inventory, and accuracy. You bring a disciplined approach and attention to detail that creates confidence in every meal and process behind it. What you’ll need to be our Cook: 

• Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent

• Must have a current Food Handler’s Permit

• Must pass the Food Safety Manager Certification within 12 months of hire

• Clear and professional communication skills to ensure tasks get completed on time and accurately

• Basic computer skills in using word processing, spreadsheets, Google Suite tools, etc.

• Previous experience in the food and/or nutrition industry, highly preferred

• Head Start/Early Head Start parents will receive preference for employment vacancies for which they are qualified

What you’ll do as the Cook: 

• Provide consistent access to nutritionally balanced and developmentally appropriate meals

• Uphold high standards of food safety and sanitation

• Support food inventory, purchasing, and budget tracking for efficiency and compliance

• Maintain accurate documentation to support program compliance

• Collaborate with staff to reinforce nutrition in the child experience

• Actively recruits parent and community volunteers to help in the kitchen

Rural Utah Child Development (RUCD) is a comprehensive child development program designed to meet the educational, emotional, social, and health needs of children. The RUCD team works well together to provide strong support and leadership, creating a consistent and quality learning environment.
