CT Technologist Position Overview:

The CT Technologist performs all diagnostic exams in accordance with established policies and procedures. This role involves ensuring the highest technical quality and efficiency while providing compassionate care and guaranteeing patient safety.

Essential Functions:

• Conduct specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners, power injectors, and related equipment following prescribed radiation safety procedures.
• Position patients for CT scans using appropriate positioning devices and protective equipment.
• Perform exams accurately according to established protocols, policies, and patient safety standards.
• Assist radiologists with imaging procedures, including starting IVs and administering contrast when applicable.
• Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in the correct exposure sequence, and label them accurately. Transmit images to the Image Archival System.
• Schedule patients for procedures and assist with clerical tasks.
• Charge procedures and supplies in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Dispense or order oral contrast for patients as needed for CT scans.
• Maintain accurate patient records.
• Provide orientation and training to new CT technologists and care for the psychological and physical needs of patients and their families during CT scans.
• Educate and train student technologists.
• Coordinate scheduling and patient flow effectively.
• Demonstrate proficiency in IV placement for contrast administration and ensure accuracy in performing all exam protocols.
• Assist with the education and training of new physicians, if applicable.
• Collaborate with radiologists to develop unique protocols and CT imaging techniques specific to the facility.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Completion of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology plus completion of an accredited CT program, or a bachelor’s degree in Radiology with two semesters of clinical rotations in CT, or equivalent years of clinical experience in lieu of an accredited CT program.
• Experience: Preferably one year of experience, though not mandatory.
• Licensure and Certification: ARRT certification in Radiography, CT certification within 18 months of employment, and BLS certification.
• Job Knowledge: Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it pertains to Radiologic exams, along with excellent communication skills.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

The role requires the ability to lift up to twenty (20) pounds, assist in moving or lifting patients (which may involve weights exceeding one-hundred (100) pounds), and stand for extended periods. Fine motor skills and visual acuity are also necessary.
