Truck Driver

SUMMARY

Drives truck with capacity of more than 3 tons, to transport materials to and from specified destinations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Drives truck to destination.
2. Prepares receipts for load picked up.
3. Collects payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges.
4. Collects necessary paperwork such as certificates of conformance (Certs.), material receivers, and bills of lading.
5. Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
6. Maintains daily trip log, according to company policy.
7. Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
8. Loads and unloads truck.
9. Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
10. Performs repairs such as installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
11. Works in shop when necessary
12. Inspects materials for damage & when necessary dimensions.
13. Position blocks and straps around items to secure cargo during transit.
