The Legal Assistant 2 position with the State Workers Insurance Fund in the Office of Chief Counsel offers a chance to support important legal work across the Commonwealth. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports legal operations by preparing documents, maintaining records, and assisting with case activities that protect the interests of the State Workers Insurance Fund. As a Legal Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Document Preparation: Draft correspondence and memoranda involving confidential and complex matters
- Record Maintenance: Organize and update files according to established record plans
- Subrogation Support: Research claims, gather information, and recommend opening third party subrogation cases
- Claim Notification: Send notices to claimants, attorneys, and insurance carriers regarding third party liens
- Invoice Review: Check contract counsel bills and verify calculations, receipts, and compliance with fee policies
- Case Tracking: Update spreadsheets and case management systems to track assignments and case activity

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week upon successful completion of the training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Legal Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of responsible clerical, investigative or enforcement work including one year of legal clerical support experience; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Six months of experience working with workers' compensation
