Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Benefits Specialist to join a government organization on a contract basis through approximately November. This fully onsite opportunity will support the Human Resources team during the open enrollment period, helping employees and retirees understand their options and complete benefit selections accurately. The ideal candidate brings strong benefits administration experience, works confidently in Workday, and communicates clearly with a service-focused approach.

Responsibilities:
• Guide employees and retirees through benefit options during open enrollment by providing individualized support and clear plan explanations.
• Respond to questions related to health, dental, life, retirement, and other available benefit programs in a detail-oriented and timely manner.
• Enter and update benefit elections and qualifying life event changes in Workday with a high level of accuracy.
• Assist retirees with benefit selection paperwork and ensure all interactions and updates are documented thoroughly.
• Review supporting materials, including authorization documents such as Power of Attorney forms, to confirm completeness and compliance.
• Maintain organized records and track benefit-related activity to support timely processing and accurate administration.
• Use Excel to monitor enrollments, maintain logs, and provide day-to-day administrative support for the benefits function.
• Collaborate closely with the broader benefits team to deliver an efficient and positive open enrollment experience.
• Adjust scheduling as needed during peak enrollment periods to accommodate employee appointments while maintaining service standards.• Prior experience in benefits administration, benefits coordination, or open enrollment support is required.
• Hands-on ability to process benefit elections and related updates in Workday or Workday HRIS is required.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to explain benefit information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Solid attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage records and transactions accurately.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking and administrative reporting.
• Experience supporting areas such as retirement benefits, COBRA administration, leave of absence, or broader compensation and benefits functions is valued.
• An active Florida insurance license is preferred but not mandatory.
