Responsibilities of Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) / Infection Preventionist:

• Assist the Director of Nursing with the daily management and oversight of nursing services.

• Support and guide nursing staff to ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and high-quality care.

• Serve as the facility’s Infection Preventionist and oversee the infection prevention and control program.

• Monitor infection trends, conduct surveillance, and implement appropriate interventions.

• Develop, implement, and maintain infection prevention policies and procedures.

• Provide education and training to staff regarding infection prevention, control practices, and regulatory requirements.

• Assist with quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.

• Participate in audits, investigations, and corrective action plans as needed.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations and standards.

• Collaborate with physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to promote positive resident outcomes.

• Assist with staff supervision, clinical documentation, and other nursing leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications for Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) / Infection Preventionist:

• Active RN or LPN license.

• Previous experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting preferred.

• Prior ADON, nursing leadership, or infection prevention experience preferred.

• Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control practices.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality resident care.
