Director of Environmental Services

A nursing home in the Albany, NY area is hiring a Full-Time Director Of Environmental Services

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the Environmental Services (EVS) Department to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming facility.

• Establish and maintain cleaning procedures that meet company policies, OSHA guidelines, and industry standards.

• Create staff schedules and assign daily work to ensure all areas of the facility are properly maintained.

• Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate EVS team members to promote high performance and accountability.

• Perform routine inspections to ensure quality standards are consistently met.

• Monitor and maintain inventory levels for cleaning supplies and equipment, placing orders as needed.

• Work closely with department leaders to address environmental service needs and support facility operations.

• Keep current with best practices, regulatory requirements, and new developments in environmental services.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or management experience in Environmental Services, Housekeeping, or a related field.

• Strong understanding of commercial cleaning methods, OSHA regulations, infection control, and safety practices.

• Experience with hard floor care, including stripping, waxing, buffing, and maintaining floors.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.

• Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities with great attention to detail.

• Experience in a healthcare, rehabilitation, hospital, or long-term care setting is strongly preferred.
