EMT Basic / Paramedic

EMTs and Paramedics are responsible for providing patient care and transportation within the scope of their certification, training, and applicable laws and regulations.

·       EMTs and Paramedics must:

·       Maintain current and valid professional credentials, licenses, and certifications appropriate to their position.

·       Provide patient care within their authorized scope of practice.

·       Safely assess, monitor, treat, and transport patients as appropriate to their level of certification.

·       Follow applicable clinical protocols, medical direction, and company policies.

·       Complete accurate and timely patient care documentation.

·       Safely operate or assist with the operation of company vehicles when assigned.

·       Properly use, inspect, and maintain assigned medical equipment and supplies.

·       Maintain appropriate infection-control and patient-safety practices.

·       Communicate professionally with patients, family members, healthcare facilities, dispatchers, and other personnel.

·       Protect patient confidentiality and handle patient information appropriately.

·       Report changes in patient condition, safety concerns, equipment problems, and incidents promptly.

·       Complete required vehicle, equipment, and supply checks.

·       Maintain required continuing education and training.

·       Perform only duties consistent with their current credentials, training, and authorization.

Paramedics may perform advanced patient-care duties only when appropriately licensed, credentialed, and authorized to do so.
