About this job
Job Description
At our Lumberton, NC facility, every part that ships starts with exceptional tooling. As a Precision Tool & Die Craftsman, you’ll transform drawings into dependable tools, dies, and fixtures that keep production moving smoothly. If you take pride in flawless craftsmanship and the details most people never see, this is your kind of work.
A day in this roleYour morning might begin at the bench—studying prints, mapping out tolerances, and selecting materials. Before lunch, you’re setting up lathes, mills, and grinders, dialing in feeds and speeds to hit the spec. In the afternoon, you verify dimensions, run test fits, and partner with engineers on any hiccups. You’ll also service and fine-tune existing tooling so it runs like new, document what you did, and wrap the day in a clean, safe workspace.
Your core accountabilities- Create and build precision tooling, dies, and fixtures to detailed specifications and drawings.
- Set up and operate machine tools—lathes, milling machines, and grinders—to produce components to tolerance.
- Inspect and function-test completed tools and dies to confirm they meet quality requirements.
- Work closely with engineers and production teams to diagnose issues and implement fixes.
- Maintain, repair, and improve existing tools and dies to maximize service life.
- Accurately document work performed, measurements, and materials used.
- Follow safety procedures and keep a clean, organized, and compliant work area.
- High school diploma or GED; a technical degree in tool and die making is preferred.
- Hands-on experience as a Tool & Die Maker or in a closely related precision machining role.
- Thorough knowledge of machining processes and tooling materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings with ease.
- Familiarity with CAD software and related design tools.
- Strong problem-solving ability and a meticulous attention to detail.
- Comfort working independently as well as within a team environment.
- Clear communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
Ready to build the tools that build everything else? We’d love to hear from you.
