RN – Labor and Delivery

Location: Syracuse, NY
Contract Duration: 16 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift | 12 Hours/Day

Weekly Gross: $2,500–$2,700 (Based on Experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery to provide high-quality nursing care in an acute-care hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have strong Labor & Delivery experience, including experience circulating C-sections, and be comfortable providing care across Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, and Nursery areas.

The RN will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective care for patients and newborns.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Labor & Delivery department.
• Float between Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, and Nursery as required.
• Circulate Cesarean section (C-section) procedures.
• Perform C-section scrubbing when qualified; scrub experience is highly preferred.
• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and perform required patient-care skills with minimal orientation and supervision.
• Provide nursing care in an acute-care hospital environment.
• Monitor patients throughout labor, delivery, and the postpartum period.
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support safe patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Follow all facility requirements related to health clearance, drug screening, background checks, and onboarding.

Required Qualifications

• Current New York State RN registration/license.
• Current BLS certification with the ability to recertify as required.
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent acute-care nursing experience within the past 2 years.
• Approximately 2 years of relevant nursing experience preferred/required based on facility requirements.
• Recent Labor & Delivery experience.
• C-section circulating experience – Required.
• Experience working in a hospital with comparable size and clinical acuity, or experience in a trauma-center environment.
• Strong clinical assessment and patient-care skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Level I Trauma Center experience highly preferred.
• EPIC EMR experience highly preferred.
• Previous experience scrubbing C-sections highly preferred.
• Experience caring for patients across Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, and Nursery.
• Ability to adapt to a high-acuity, fast-paced hospital environment.
