Job Description
SUMMARY
Receives, sorts, processes and ships incoming scrap materials by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include but are not limited to the following:
Completes a pre-operational check of all warehouse equipment and any other equipment that may be used during the course of a scheduled workday, including but not limited to forklift. Inspects equipment for defective parts and notifies supervisor of defects or malfunctions. Work with management to schedule and complete any/all repairs needed on equipment.
Checks with management for daily work schedule and discuss any special job assignments at the beginning and/or end of each scheduled workday.
Handles all incoming and outgoing non-ferrous scrap materials. Maintains a smooth flow of non-ferrous customer traffic inside the warehouse and non-ferrous areas.
Conveys scrap materials from receiving or production areas to designated areas.
Uses torches, plasma cutters, and various equipment including but not limited to balers, wire strippers, chop saws and shears.
Sorts and places scrap materials in designated bins or other storage areas according to predetermined size, type, color, or product code.
Marks materials with identifying information, such as product code, weight, or other specified required information.
Maintains good housekeeping practices inside the warehouse and in other assigned work areas. This includes sweeping sidewalk, scale platforms and other assigned work areas (weather permitting).
Transports oxygen, propane equipment and supplies via warehouse equipment on company grounds.
Frequently be required to perform the essential job duties and responsibilities of Burner and General Laborer.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.). One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write in English routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak in English effectively to communicate with customers and/or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. ability to perform these operations, using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employee is required to wear hard hat, safety vest and safety eye protection at all times while in processing area. Employee is required to wear approved respirator while burning or working with cut off saw. Respirator must conform to the standards established on the Company Respirator Policy.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
