Job Description
Controller – Manufacturing
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead and coordinate the company’s financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cost control.
The Controller will be a key member of the leadership team and will work closely with senior management to provide accurate financial reporting, meaningful analysis, forecasting, and recommendations that support business growth and operational decision-making.
The ideal candidate is an accounting professional who can take ownership of the company’s financial function while also developing a strong understanding of our manufacturing operation and cost structure.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and operating results.
- Monitor actual performance against budget and identify significant variances.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow, and working capital.
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records.
- Develop financial forecasts and provide analysis to senior leadership.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and eliminate unnecessary spending.
- Develop an understanding of manufacturing operations, product costs, labor, overhead, and profitability.
- Support cost accounting and product-line profitability analysis.
- Prepare financial analysis for contracts, capital expenditures, and investment decisions.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to minimize financial errors and reduce fraud risk.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, reporting, and efficiency.
- Assist with payroll administration and coordinate with the company's outside payroll provider.
- Assist with compensation, benefits, onboarding, and other administrative/HR-related functions as needed.
- Develop and maintain office procedures and processes that support company goals.
- Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to financial and operational planning.
- Provide clear, timely, and actionable financial information to company leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 2–5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accountant experience preferred.
- Manufacturing or cost-accounting experience is a strong plus.
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and accounting practices.
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks preferred.
- Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Understanding of cash flow, working capital, AP, and AR.
- Experience analyzing financial data and developing financial projections.
- Strong understanding of internal controls and financial processes.
- Ability to learn and understand manufacturing operations and their financial impact.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate financial information effectively to both accounting and non-accounting personnel.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify potential issues before they become problems.
Pay: $100,000.00 per year
