Job Description
Top area Hospital, Monday to Friday 830am to 500pm
Minimum 1+ year of pathology office or directly related pathology experience required.
• Experience with medical terminology and pathology terminology required.
• Experience performing medical transcription, proofreading, and/or medical documentation processing required.
• Experience supporting a Pathology department, Pathologists, or comparable pathology workflow required.
• Experience working in a high-volume, detail-intensive healthcare environment.
• Experience managing multiple documentation and administrative priorities simultaneously
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
• Medical and pathology terminology.
• Medical transcription and proofreading.
• Ability to type 45-50 words per minute.
• Microsoft Word proficiency.
• Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
• Experience working with healthcare documentation systems and/or pathology software.
• PowerPath LIS experience preferred.
• WebHIS experience preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Strong phone and professional communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy while working with approximately 50 reports/cases per day.
• Ability to work effectively with Pathologists and other healthcare professionals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Transcribe pre-operative and post-operative diagnoses.
• Proofread gross descriptions and modify documentation as needed for accuracy.
• Transcribe and/or proofread approximately 50 reports/cases per day.
• Transcribe and scan reference laboratory reports into PowerPath LIS.
• Upload consultation and prognostic reports into WebHIS.
• Process approximately 15-20 reference laboratory and consultation cases per day.
• Prepare case materials for consultation and reference laboratory testing.
• Assist Pathologists with case review and preparation for internal conferences.
• Support Tumor Board, Surgical Review Committee, consultation cases, and other internal conferences approximately 2-3 times per week.
• Provide administrative support to Pathologists.
• Maintain accurate and timely pathology documentation while meeting established accuracy expectations.
• Manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong organization, attention to detail, and customer service.
