Cleanroom Technician

The Cleanroom Technician supports production in a controlled manufacturing environment by preparing and handling plates, tubes, and related materials used in laboratory and medical applications. This role involves working in specialized areas such as the Automatic Plates Room (APR), Manual Plates Room (MPR), and the tubes department (TVS), performing tasks like sorting, packaging, labeling, and quality checks while following strict procedures and documentation standards. You will work on your feet for the full shift, handle repetitive tasks, and maintain high attention to detail to ensure product quality and compliance with work instructions and GMP guidelines.

• Operate within APR (Automatic Plates Room) and MPR (Manual Plates Room) to support the production of media that is dispensed into petri dishes.
• Handle petri dishes and associated materials, which may include seeing sheep blood in bags and cleaning petri dishes as needed.
• Work in the TVS (Tubes) area to sort, package, label, and palletize tubes and related products according to production requirements.
• Perform packing, quality assurance checks, and general production tasks to ensure products meet established standards.
• Complete documentation of packaging procedures and other production activities accurately throughout the shift.
• Follow detailed work instructions and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) guidelines to maintain product integrity and regulatory compliance.
• Use basic math skills with a calculator to perform counts, measurements, or other calculations required during production and packaging.
• Lift, twist, and push up to 30 pounds repetitively while maintaining safe work practices.
• Stand and work on your feet for the entire shift in a production manufacturing environment.
• Adhere to cleanroom protocols where applicable, including appropriate gowning and handling procedures.
• Work both independently and in small groups to meet production targets and deadlines.
• Remain flexible and available for overtime when required, which may include additional days or extended hours during busy seasons.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety guidelines and using required protective equipment.
• Communicate clearly with team members and follow supervisory direction to resolve production or quality issues promptly.

• At least 6 months of production or manufacturing experience.
• Ability to work comfortably in a production manufacturing environment, including repetitive tasks and standing for a full shift.
• Ability to lift, twist, and push up to 30 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Ability to stand on feet for the entire scheduled shift.
• Ability to speak, read, and write basic English to follow work instructions and complete documentation.
• Familiarity with general production, manufacturing processes, and manufacturing assembly.
• Ability to follow work instructions and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) guidelines.
• Attention to detail for inspection, packaging, and documentation tasks.
• Basic math skills and ability to use a calculator for production-related calculations.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• Previous cleanroom experience is a plus.
• Comfort working in a cleanroom production environment with specific gowning and handling requirements.
• Experience with packaging, inspection, and quality assurance in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work in small teams or independently, depending on production needs.
• Willingness to be flexible with overtime, including occasional additional days or extended hours during busy seasons.

The work environment is climate controlled and designed for consistent, clean production. In Building 1, there may be noticeable smells of yeast or vinegar, and certain areas can be loud, with earplugs provided for hearing protection. The test tube area is particularly loud due to glass tubes and bottles in use. You may work in small groups or independently depending on the task and department. Dress code includes safety shoes (steel or composite toe) and allows jeans, t-shirts, and sweatshirts, provided they are non-offensive; scrubs are encouraged. Hair nets, safety glasses, and surgical face coverings are provided and required in designated areas to maintain safety and cleanliness. Some departments, such as TVS, do not require full cleanroom bunny suits, while other areas may have stricter cleanroom attire requirements. Shifts vary by department, including first, second, and third shifts, with occasional overtime that may extend shifts or add days during busy seasons.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lenexa, KS.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
