Release of Information Specialist

Robert Half is seeking individuals to join one of our prestigious Fortune 500 healthcare organizations as a Release of Information Specialist (ROI). We are specifically seeking two individuals to work at our Chandler, AZ facility and one individual to work at our Gilbert facility. The Release of Information Specialist opening is a contract to hire opportunity and requires individuals to sit onsite at one of the previously mentioned healthcare facilities. Responsibilities:

• Process and fulfill requests for medical records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA, hospital policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Review and validate authorizations, consent forms, subpoenas, court orders, and other legal documentation prior to releasing protected health information (PHI).
• Manage and process patient, legal, insurance, and next-of-kin release requests, ensuring all required documentation and approvals are obtained before disclosure.
• Retrieve, compile, and distribute medical records from electronic health record (EHR) systems and paper files in a timely and accurate manner.
• Respond to requests from patients, providers, insurance companies, attorneys, and government agencies while meeting established service-level expectations.
• Document and track all disclosures of protected health information in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Perform quality reviews of records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and appropriate redaction of sensitive information before release.
• Collaborate with clinical staff, patients, and external requestors to resolve record-related questions and clarify release requirements.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and safeguard patient information throughout all stages of the release process.
• Support audits, compliance reviews, and departmental process improvement initiatives related to health information management.

• 1+ years of recent release of information (ROI) experience
• Experience working in a hospital setting
• High school diploma
• EPIC EMR experience
• Familiarity with next-of-kin release request preferred
