General Laborer – Pallet Inspection and Repair

Job Description

This role works in the yard of a cement block production facility, inspecting, assembling, and repairing pallets used in daily operations. You use basic hand and power tools, accurately read a tape measure, and follow established quality and safety standards to ensure pallets meet company requirements. The position is physically active and hands-on, supporting both production efficiency and workplace safety.

Responsibilities

• Inspect returned pallets by checking height, condition, and overall quality using established company standards and in-process system guidelines.
• Assemble and repair pallets using appropriate hand and power tools to meet required specifications.
• Assist with receiving orders and help sort, stack, and organize pallets in the yard.
• Follow established policies, procedures, and quality assurance guidelines to ensure standards are met or exceeded.
• Maintain a clean, organized workstation and participate in general yard clean-up activities.
• Lift materials and pallets weighing up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Stand, walk, bend, and twist for the duration of an eight-hour shift in a production yard environment.
• Wear required personal protective equipment at all times and ensure safety policies are consistently followed.
• Adhere to company safety procedures when working around heavy equipment and large cement blocks.
• Work collaboratively with another team member in the department to complete daily tasks and meet production goals.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support yard operations and production needs.

Essential Skills

• Experience using basic hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, and cutting tools.
• Experience using basic power tools in a production, construction, or general labor setting.
• Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure for measuring pallet components and materials.
• General labor experience in environments such as construction, production, or assembly line work.
• Ability to perform pallet repair, assembly, and related carpentry-style tasks.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and twist for an entire 8-hour shift.
• Ability to follow quality assurance and safety procedures consistently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in pallet repair, assembly, or carpentry is highly beneficial.
• Background in construction, production, or assembly line work is an asset.
• Strong ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with coworkers and supervisors.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple duties in a busy yard environment.
• Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, consistently arriving on time for scheduled shifts.
• Comfort working in dusty, hot, and cold outdoor or semi-outdoor production environments.

Work Environment

This position operates in a production yard Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The work area is outdoors or semi-outdoors and can be dusty, hot in warm weather, and cold in cooler seasons. You work around heavy equipment and large cement blocks, where safety procedures and personal protective equipment are critical. The role is physically demanding, involving frequent lifting, standing, walking, bending, and twisting throughout an eight-hour shift. You will work closely with one other person in the department, in a practical, hands-on environment where a complete uniform is provided after three months.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pen Argyl, PA.

The pay range for this position is $19.57 - $19.57/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
