Job Title: FabricatorJob Description

The Fabricator operates a variety of machines in a metal fabrication shop, performs general labor and mechanical assembly tasks, and uses hand and power tools to produce high-quality fabricated components according to blueprints and measurements.

Responsibilities
  • Operate different machines and equipment within a metal fabrication setting to produce parts and assemblies.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to understand specifications, dimensions, and assembly requirements.
  • Use a tape measure accurately to verify dimensions and ensure components meet required tolerances.
  • Perform general labor tasks, including material handling, shop organization, and basic housekeeping duties.
  • Carry out mechanical assembly work using hand tools and power tools to build and assemble products.
  • Inspect completed parts and assemblies for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
  • Work independently in the assembly department while coordinating with the broader shop team when needed.
  • Follow safety procedures and best practices when operating fabrication equipment and tools.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area within the fabrication shop.
  • Contribute to efficient production workflow by meeting daily output and quality expectations.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints in a fabrication or production environment.
  • Experience performing general labor and mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Proficiency using hand tools for assembly and fabrication work.
  • Proficiency using power tools in a production or fabrication setting, with at least 6+ months of experience.
  • At least 6+ months of experience working in a production environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with metal fabrication processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience as a technician or service technician, ideally 6+ months.
  • Experience as a farm hand, ideally 6+ months, demonstrating practical mechanical skills and work ethic.
  • Experience as a machine operator, ideally 6+ months, in a production or fabrication environment.
  • Experience working with sheet metal machines, ideally 6+ months.
  • Familiarity with production workflows and meeting daily output targets.
  • Comfort working in a team-oriented shop while handling independent assignments.
  • Willingness to learn new fabrication techniques and grow into more advanced responsibilities over time.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean, modern metal fabrication job shop located in a brand-new building in south Lincoln. The facility is bright, well-organized, and focused on high-quality custom contract fabrication work. You work Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional overtime on Fridays that is typically limited. The team consists of approximately 17 people, and this position works independently within the assembly department while still being part of the larger shop environment. You regularly use fabrication machinery, hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal equipment in a professional shop setting, following safety standards and maintaining a clean workspace.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
