Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)

\n

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and preparing blood samples, as well as assisting in various laboratory tests and maintaining laboratory equipment in accordance with established guidelines.

Shift Notes\n

This position requires availability from 0700 to 1630, including every other weekend.

Job Description\n

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will perform the following responsibilities:

• Utilize skin puncture and venipuncture techniques to obtain blood samples.
\n
• Verify patient information, label specimen vials, and match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes according to defined processes.
\n
• Dispose of contaminated needles, blood, and other biohazardous materials in compliance with relevant laws, standards, and policies.
\n
• Enter patient, specimen, insurance, and billing information into the appropriate systems.
\n
• Process specimens according to established laboratory guidelines.
\n
• Organize blood-drawing trays to ensure all instruments are sterile and that all materials are for first-time use.
\n
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to infection control, hazardous waste, and other relevant protocols.
\n
• Perform other related duties as required and directed.
\n

Qualifications\n

\n
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) is required.
\n
• Current ASCP certification is required.
\n
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or Red Cross is required.
\n
• Willingness to travel may be preferred.
\n
