What You’ll Do

The Chemical Test/Technician supports the development, testing, evaluation, and manufacturing of aerospace and defense pyrotechnic products. This role exists to ensure chemical processing and test results are accurate, traceable, and compliant with safety, quality, customer, and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities include operating and maintaining lab/test equipment; preparing samples; capturing precise data per SOPs; following PSM and PHA requirements; supporting energetic material processing under chemical engineer direction; controlling energetic material inventory and N.E.W. limits; performing destructive and non-destructive testing (including qualification, environmental, sub-lot, and acceptance testing); assisting with inspections (bridge/insulation resistance, Hi-Pot, visual/mechanical); and maintaining complete records (calibration, waste, inventory, test reports).

Required qualifications:
- Some college coursework in chemistry (or related) plus 2–3 years related manufacturing experience (or equivalent)
- Strong English communication and basic math skills

A Typical Shift

You start by reviewing the day’s test plan and verifying the latest controlled procedures. After checking PPE, area limits, and equipment status, you set up instruments, confirm calibration status, and stage materials and documentation. You move between the lab and test areas to run scheduled evaluations, logging results as you go and flagging anything outside expected ranges. Throughout the day, you coordinate with Engineering, Quality, and Production to align on priorities, resolve documentation questions, and keep work moving. You close out by reconciling inventory and records, completing required waste and log entries, and leaving the workspace clean, organized, and ready for the next run.
