Key Responsibilities:

·         Training and Mentorship: Train and mentor new nursing staff, ensuring they are familiar with department protocols, patient care procedures, and safety standards. Provide ongoing support and guidance to foster professional development.

·         Supervision and Leadership: Assist with overseeing the daily activities of nursing staff, ensuring that all staff adhere to department policies and procedures. Offer support in decision-making and problem-solving situations.

·         Collaboration: Work closely with other nursing staff and management to improve operational processes and enhance patient care delivery. Serve as a point of contact for nursing staff on a variety of operational issues.

·         Cover Shifts: Coordinate with the Nurse Manager to ensure that qualified nursing staff provide coverage during planned absences and maintain continuity of care.

·         Quality Control: Ensure that patient care meets the organization’s high standards by conducting regular checks, identifying potential issues, and helping resolve them promptly. Promote a culture of continuous improvement.

·         Supply Management: Oversee the inventory and management of nursing supplies. Ensure adequate stock levels, order supplies as needed, and maintain proper documentation. Monitor and report any shortages or equipment malfunctions.

·         Staff Scheduling: Manage and coordinate the nursing schedule, ensuring that shifts are covered appropriately and that staffing levels align with patient needs. Work closely with the Nurse Manager to adjust schedules based on department requirements.

Work Schedule:

·         The Lead Nurse will work Monday through Friday. Coverage during planned absences will be coordinated with the Nurse Manager and qualified nursing staff. Occasional extra shifts or schedule flexibility may be required in special circumstances.

Skills:

·         Organizational, leadership, and time-management skills.

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

·         Capacity to train, mentor, and support new employees.

·         Proficient in scheduling software, nursing documentation tools, and basic computer programs (e.g., MS Office).

·         Solid understanding of nursing practices, standards, and healthcare protocols.

·         Skilled to solve problems and think critically while managing competing clinical priorities.

Qualifications:

·         Licensing/Certifications: MA, LPN, and/or RN license and BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required. Additional certifications in specialty areas may be preferred.

·         Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience with a background in Plastics. Prior experience in a leadership, supervisory, or charge nurse role is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

·         Ability to perform the essential functions of the role, including prolonged standing, repetitive movements, and lifting objects weighing up to 20 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
