About This Role

We are seeking a dependable, organized, and experienced Assistant Director to support the daily operations of a childcare center in Decatur, GA.


The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and team player who is passionate about early childhood education and comfortable supporting teachers, children, families, and center leadership.



What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Center Director with daily operations and administrative responsibilities.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to teachers and childcare staff.
  • Help coordinate staff schedules and classroom coverage to maintain appropriate teacher-to-child ratios.
  • Support compliance with Georgia childcare licensing requirements, health and safety standards, and center policies.
  • Assist with staff onboarding, training, coaching, and professional development.
  • Monitor classrooms and support teachers with classroom management and daily routines.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
  • Communicate professionally with parents, guardians, teachers, and staff.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate child, staff, attendance, licensing, and operational records.
  • Help address parent and staff questions or concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Support enrollment, center tours, family inquiries, and other administrative needs.
  • Step into classrooms and provide coverage when necessary.
  • Help oversee center operations in the Director’s absence.


Requirements

Qualifications
  • CDA, TCC, Associate’s Degree, or higher in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • Previous childcare or early childhood education experience preferred.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or childcare administration experience is a plus.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Must successfully complete all required background checks.
  • Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced childcare environment.
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional.
