Pilot Plant Technologist

This Pilot Plant Technologist in Collegeville, PA involves working closely with technicians, scientists, and engineers within pilot plant and lab facilities to ensure safety compliance and enhance technology-specific skills through training. The position emphasizes operational excellence, continuous learning, and collaboration across multiple teams to maintain high standards in research and production. You will play a key role in solving technical and operational problems, leading troubleshooting efforts, and supporting process optimization initiatives to drive plant performance and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe and efficient operation of assigned pilot plant areas
• Assign and perform tasks to complete the Master Task List, including field checks and equipment preparation
• Lead troubleshooting of process deviations and facilitate Root Cause Investigations
• Assign crisis response activities during process upsets to group technicians
• Drive improvements in plant performance and operating discipline, creating and refining job procedures
• Analyze plant inputs to optimize process control, asset utilization, production yields, and conversion costs
• Direct process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements, and preventative maintenance
• Collaborate with engineers and leadership to plan plant turnarounds and define project scope
• Evaluate and develop lower-level technicians through performance reviews and disciplinary actions if needed
• Identify training needs, resolve knowledge gaps, and participate in Training Review Boards
• Ensure adherence to Life Critical Standards and cultivate a facility safety and training culture

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or equivalent local education
• Relevant work experience preferred alongside associate degree
