Job Description
Mobile, AL: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Clerical Assistant – Insurance Denials & Appeals to provide part-time administrative support within a Clinical Documentation Integrity and Payment Integrity department. This position will assist with the intake and processing of insurance denials, maintaining information within electronic health records, and submitting insurance appeals through payer portals.
This is a 6-month assignment working approximately 8–10 hours per week, with the potential to transition into a flexible or part-time position based on performance. The pay rate is $16.50 per hour. Dress is business casual.
Essential Duties:
• Assist with the intake and processing of healthcare insurance denials
• Log and maintain denial information within Epic and other electronic health record systems
• Submit insurance appeals through appropriate payer portals
• Enter, update, and maintain accurate information related to denials and appeals
• Assist with tracking the status of insurance appeals and related documentation
• Review documentation for completeness and accuracy prior to submission
• Maintain organized electronic records and supporting documentation
• Provide clerical and administrative support to the Clinical Documentation Integrity and Payment Integrity department
• Maintain confidentiality of patient, insurance, and financial information
• Perform other related administrative duties as assigned
Requirements/Skills:
• Basic knowledge of healthcare insurance, medical billing, reimbursement, or related healthcare processes preferred
• Previous medical billing, insurance, reimbursement, or healthcare administrative experience is a plus
• Experience with Epic or another electronic health record system preferred
• Comfortable navigating online insurance and payer portals
• Strong computer and data entry skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to organize and maintain electronic records and documentation
• Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive patient and healthcare information
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
• Ability to perform repetitive keyboarding, data entry, and general clerical duties
• Ability to communicate effectively in an office environment
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
