Job Description
A growing Quick-Service Restaurant (QSR) in Bridgeport, CT is seeking a dynamic and energetic Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join its team. This is an excellent leadership opportunity for a motivated restaurant professional who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment and is passionate about delivering excellent food, service, and guest experiences.
The Assistant General Manager will work closely with the General Manager to oversee daily restaurant operations, maintain brand and food-safety standards, drive team performance, and support sales, labor, and profitability goals. The AGM will play an active role in coaching employees, maintaining operational standards, and ensuring smooth execution across all shifts.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
- Assist with daily restaurant operations and shift execution.
- Ensure consistent food quality, service, cleanliness, and brand standards.
- Support opening and closing procedures.
- Assist the General Manager in achieving sales, labor, and profitability goals.
- Maintain an organized and efficient restaurant during high-volume periods.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and coach shift leaders and team members.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training.
- Provide ongoing feedback and performance coaching.
- Build a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.
- Address employee concerns and escalate issues when appropriate.
Labor & Scheduling
- Assist with scheduling and maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
- Monitor labor productivity and support labor-cost objectives.
- Ensure accurate timekeeping and adherence to scheduling policies.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Ensure proper food handling, storage, and preparation procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the restaurant.
- Support health inspections, operational audits, and compliance standards.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Assist with inventory counts, ordering, and product management.
- Monitor food waste and support cost-control initiatives.
- Maintain accurate inventory and product records.
Guest Experience
- Deliver fast, friendly, and professional guest service.
- Resolve customer concerns effectively and professionally.
- Maintain a welcoming and positive restaurant environment.
- Lead by example during high-volume service periods.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of restaurant or food-service leadership experience preferred.
- Previous supervisory, Shift Leader, or Assistant Manager experience strongly preferred.
- QSR, fast-food, pizza, or other high-volume restaurant experience preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-development skills.
- Ability to coach and motivate employees in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of restaurant labor, inventory, and financial controls.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
