We are looking for an accomplished Personal Injury Attorney to join a respected legal team in New York, New York. This position is suited for a litigation specialist who can take primary responsibility for plaintiff-side injury matters, guide cases strategically, and deliver strong advocacy from initial review through resolution. The attorney in this role will work directly with clients, appear regularly before the court, and contribute meaningfully to the successful handling of complex and high-value claims.
Responsibilities:
• Direct a portfolio of personal injury cases from initial intake through settlement, verdict, or other final disposition.
• Analyze liability exposure and damages by reviewing medical records, treatment history, supporting documentation, and expert opinions.
• Shape litigation plans designed to strengthen claims, advance case progress efficiently, and improve recovery results for clients.
• Prepare pleadings, discovery demands and responses, motion papers, and other legal filings while maintaining momentum on each matter.
• Take and defend depositions involving clients, witnesses, medical providers, and retained experts.
• Represent clients in court appearances, including conferences, hearings, and oral argument on contested applications.
• Manage settlement discussions and participate in mediations or arbitrations to pursue favorable outcomes.
• Maintain consistent client communication, provide practical guidance throughout the case, and uphold a high standard of advocacy.
• Partner with firm leadership on significant or complicated matters and support trial preparation and courtroom proceedings as needed.
• Supervise accurate case documentation in the firm’s management platform and offer direction to entry-level team members, paralegals, and case staff.• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active admission to the New York State Bar in good standing.
• At least 3 years of experience handling personal injury litigation matters with substantial case ownership.
• Demonstrated ability to manage discovery, motion practice, depositions, and court appearances independently.
• Strong background in evaluating damages, interpreting medical documentation, and negotiating settlements.
• Excellent analytical thinking, legal writing, verbal communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Trial experience or meaningful trial preparation exposure is preferred.
• Familiarity with case management software such as SmartAdvocate or comparable platforms is preferred; additional language skills, including Spanish, are a plus.
