Safety Specialist

The Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations. This role focuses on reducing accidents, promoting a culture of safety, and ensuring drivers and operations follow all transportation safety standards.

• Monitor and enforce compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other transportation safety regulations
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments of drivers, vehicles, and facilities
• Review driver logs (ELDs), hours of service (HOS), and safety records for compliance
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare detailed reports and corrective action plans
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for drivers and staff (e.g., defensive driving, compliance)
• Maintain safety documentation, records, and reports for regulatory audits
• Track and analyze safety metrics (accident frequency, violations, CSA scores)
• Collaborate with operations and dispatch teams to ensure safe scheduling and routing
• Conduct new driver safety orientations and ongoing coaching
• Recommend and implement improvements to safety policies and procedures
