Job Description
An exciting opportunity awaits a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher specializing in Early Childhood to support young learners in a Pre-K setting. This position provides a rewarding chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students, working within a supportive educational community just outside Montezuma, NM. Running from now through May 27, 2026, this contract role offers the opportunity to enjoy a flexible weekly schedule with Fridays off.
Key Qualifications:
- Active New Mexico Special Education (SPED) teaching license required
- Proven experience working with Pre-K students, ideally in early childhood special education environments
- Knowledge of and ability to implement both resource and inclusion models
- Strong communication and collaboration skills—able to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues
- Ability to create engaging, differentiated lesson plans suited to diverse learning needs
- Up-to-date understanding of regulations, best practices, and instructional strategies in early childhood SPED
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction and interventions for Pre-K students receiving special education services
- Adapt curriculum and activities to meet individual education program (IEP) goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and resource programs
- Develop and maintain accurate records, IEP documentation, and progress reports
- Foster a nurturing, supportive classroom environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic growth
- Engage parents and caregivers in student success through regular communication and partnerships
Enjoy a flexible workweek—Monday through Thursday, 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM—totaling 18 hours per week. Compensation for this W2 hourly contract ranges from $36 to $40 per hour, commensurate with experience.
