Special Education Teacher - Evanston, Illinois

Exciting opportunity for an experienced Special Education Teacher interested in making a meaningful impact in early childhood education. This contract position runs from ASAP through the end of the school year, serving a single campus near Evanston, IL. The role provides a steady full-time schedule of 37.5-40 hours per week, working closely with a small, focused caseload of 7-8 students in grades K-2.

You’ll be supporting young learners with diverse needs, including those with developmental delays, Autism, and ADHD. Your expertise will help foster a positive, supportive learning environment, tailored to promote student growth and independence.

Qualifications:

• Active LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist 1) certification required
• Proven experience with primary age students, ideally K-2nd grade
• Strong knowledge and understanding of instructional strategies for students with DD, Autism, and ADHD
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with both students and staff

Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs, using evidence-based strategies
• Manage a caseload of 7-8 K-2 students, providing a nurturing and structured classroom environment
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
• Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and parent conferences
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation as required
