Special Education Teacher | Rohnert Park, California

This contract opportunity supports a Special Day class for 2nd and 3rd graders, with a close-knit caseload of up to 12 students and the support of three dedicated paraprofessionals alongside you. With three other Special Day classes on site, there’s a strong culture of collaboration and shared success. This position offers flexibility, covering a leave with potential to extend through the end of the school year.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching credential (Mod/Severe preferred; Mild/Mod may be considered for short-term coverage)
• Background working with elementary students, especially ages 7–9
• Solid understanding of IEP development, goal setting, and data collection
• Effective communication and collaborative skills, enabling positive engagement with paraprofessionals, colleagues, and families
• Proficiency in fostering inclusive, positive classroom culture

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs in a self-contained, supportive classroom environment
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals to ensure all students receive differentiated support
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, working closely with families and staff
• Participate in meetings, school activities, and team planning with other Special Day class educators
• Maintain a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment focused on growth and independence
