Food Service Assistant

Salary: $16.25 - $17.00/hour

Job Description: The Food Service Assistant perfoms a variety of routine food preparation duties such as serving and storing meals and maintaining food prepaeration areas in accordance with state and county health codes. This is a part-time, 25 hours per week position (Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 1:00 pm)

Essential Functions:

• Serve school breakfast and lunch and prepare pre-determined portion measurements
• Ensure menu items are prepared in correct quantities and meet nutritional requirements
• Maintain cafeteria and serving areas in a satisfactory condition
• Clean kitchen and working areas at the beginning and end of the shifts and throughout the day.
• Store prepared food and serve food to students during meal/snack times.
• Ensure food preperation and handling guidelines are observed to prevent foodborne and other illnesses.
• Help clear soiled trays
• Assist management in simple inventory counts, ordering, and similar information.
• Help maintain kitchen area in accordance with NY state and Cayuga County Health Departments requirements

Supervisory Duties: None.

Other Duties: Perform all other duties as assigned by the Child Care Director.
