Safety Manager

Our client is a leading commercial mechanical contractor specializing in mechanical, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, HVAC, and electrical construction throughout Arizona. The Safety Manager will lead and maintain the company's comprehensive safety program across commercial construction projects throughout Arizona. This role will support field operations through safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, training, and OSHA compliance.

The Safety Manager will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and executive leadership to promote a proactive safety culture, reduce workplace incidents, and maintain a safe working environment.

This is an in-office position. Remote and hybrid schedules are not available.

• Lead and administer the company-wide safety program.
  
• Respond to incidents, accidents, injuries, and safety concerns across commercial construction job sites.
  
• Conduct accident investigations, determine root causes, and prepare findings and recommendations.
  
• Coordinate post-accident drug testing and required documentation.
  
• Document accident scenes and job site conditions through photographs, video, sketches, and written reports.
  
• Interview witnesses, employees, supervisors, and subcontractors during investigations.
  
• Prepare reports outlining findings, corrective actions, and preventative recommendations.
  
• Conduct scheduled and unscheduled safety inspections and audits.
  
• Develop and deliver OSHA and construction safety training programs.
  
• Lead toolbox talks, weekly safety meetings, Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
  
• Inspect PPE, tools, equipment, and job site conditions for OSHA compliance.
  
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety requirements.
  
• Maintain safety records, inspection logs, reports, and regulatory documentation.
  
• Communicate safety expectations to field employees, supervisors, and project leadership.
  
• Monitor safety performance metrics and provide reports to executive leadership.
  
• Assist with annual safety budgets and procurement of safety equipment and supplies.
  
• Support recruiting and onboarding through new employee safety orientations.
  
• Coach and mentor employees to promote a strong safety culture.
  
• Recommend improvements to safety policies, procedures, training programs, and company standards.
  

• Minimum 5 years of commercial construction safety management experience at the manager level.
  
• Minimum 5 years of OSHA training experience.
  
• OSHA 510 certification required.
  
• OSHA 500 certification required.
  
• OSHA 30 certification required.
  
• OSHA 10 certification required.
  
• CPR certification required.
  
• First Aid certification required.
  
• Proven experience conducting accident investigations and safety audits.
  
• Experience developing and presenting safety training programs.
  
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and commercial construction safety practices.
  
• Working knowledge of hazard recognition, risk assessment, and incident prevention.
  
• Knowledge of PPE, fall protection, confined space, excavation safety, lockout/tagout, and other OSHA standards.
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management software.
  
• High school diploma or GED required.
  
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  
• Valid Arizona driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  
• Fluent English required; Spanish bilingual preferred.
  

• Full-time, in-person position based in Phoenix, AZ.
  
• Approximately 25% travel between commercial construction project sites throughout Arizona.
  
• Ability to work in active commercial construction environments.
  
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  
• Ability to climb ladders, kneel, bend, crawl, and navigate construction sites.
  
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  
• Must be comfortable working around construction equipment, materials, and active job site conditions.
