A day in the shop

You arrive, review the print, and map out your setup. By mid-morning, the manual lathe is humming as you dial in feeds and speeds. You verify critical dimensions with micrometers and gauges, making fine adjustments on the mill before moving to a surface finish pass on the grinder. Along the way, you document what you ran and how you ran it, flag a small improvement for the next build, and partner with engineering to confirm a design tweak. Before you clock out, you clean your area, perform basic maintenance checks, and ensure every part meets spec.

What you'll tackle

• Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, and grinders to produce precise components.
• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specs to plan machining operations.
• Inspect parts with precision tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and document results.
• Troubleshoot and maintain equipment to keep performance on point.
• Collaborate with engineering and production to refine processes and designs.
• Follow safety procedures and keep a clean, organized work area.
• Record setups, steps, and outcomes to maintain accurate production records.

What you'll bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; machining-related technical training or certification is a plus.
• Hands-on experience as a Manual Machinist or in a closely related role.
• Solid grasp of conventional machining methods and best practices.
• Fluency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
• Comfort using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced setting.
• Keen attention to detail and a quality-first mindset.
• Proactive problem-solver who enjoys tackling challenges.
