A day on the floor

You clock in, review a new print for a custom automation assembly, and roll up to a 5HP Bridgeport-style manual mill. You select NMBT tooling, indicate your part, and verify work-holding before taking the first cut. Between passes, you check dimensions with gauges and micrometers to keep tolerances tight. An alloy steel shaft moves next to a manual lathe, and later, you finish on the surface grinder. By day’s end, you’ve produced a small batch of precision components that fit perfectly into a specialty machine build.

What you’ll do

• Run Bridgeport-style manual mills (5HP) and manual lathes safely and efficiently.
• Machine low-volume, tight-tolerance parts for custom automation and specialty equipment.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and layouts to achieve precise results.
• Select and set up tooling, indicate parts, and confirm secure work-holding using NMBT tooling systems.
• Perform thorough first-article and in-process inspections with standard precision measuring tools.
• Maintain an orderly, safe, and collaborative shop environment.

What you bring

• Hands-on experience operating manual mills (Bridgeport-style), manual lathes, and surface grinders.
• Ability to read and work from prints with minimal supervision.
• Strong knowledge of part indication, work-holding, and NMBT tooling.
• Proven capability machining aluminum, alloy steel, and stainless steel.
• Detail orientation and commitment to holding tight tolerances.

• CNC Lathe (2-4 axis) (Mazak, Haas, Okuma, Doosan, Takisawa, Dmg Mori Seiki, Samsung, Murata, Fuji, Nakamura, Hyundai - Wia, Hwachon, Quick Tech)
