EKG Technician

The EKG Technician 1 assumes the responsibility of performing EKG’s, stress tests, pacemaker download and Holter placement monitoring.  S/he operates specialized equipment which measures and records cardio activity of the heart.  S/he passes the results of the test(s) to the clinician.

Qualifications:

Required Education:

• EKG certification from NHA National health career association program. Or a certified cardiographic technician (CCT). High school diploma or GED and the combination of education, knowledge, skills, mental development, and relevant experience that enables performance of all aspects of the position.
• Basic Life support (BLS) card from American heart association

Required Experience:

• Minimum of one (1) year of on-the-job training under the supervision of a Board-Certified Cardiologist.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience with (EKG) equipment, stress test equipment, Holter monitor and pacemaker.

Desirable Experience:

• Minimum of two (2) years of on-the-job training under the supervision of a Board-Certified Cardiologist.
