Job Title: Parts & Maintenance Assistant
Location: Visalia, CA
Pay: $20.00–$23.00/hour DOE
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday
Position Overview
Key Staffing is currently seeking a detail-oriented and mechanically inclined Parts & Maintenance Assistant to support purchasing, parts procurement, inventory, and fleet maintenance operations for a growing organization in Visalia, CA.
This position will work closely with the Fleet Manager and play an important role in ensuring parts, materials, and supplies are properly sourced, ordered, tracked, and available to support fleet and maintenance operations.
The ideal candidate will have fleet-related experience, mechanical aptitude, and familiarity with heavy equipment and diesel machinery. This position is well suited for someone who understands parts and basic mechanical terminology while also being organized and comfortable handling purchasing, inventory, and administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the procurement of parts, materials, and supplies for fleet and maintenance operations
- Enter and maintain purchase orders accurately and efficiently
- Contact vendors to obtain pricing, quotes, availability, and product information
- Assist with sourcing parts for fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, and diesel machinery
- Track parts and material orders and monitor delivery status
- Receive and check in incoming parts, materials, and supplies
- Maintain accurate purchasing, parts, and inventory records
- Assist with inventory tracking and supply management
- Prepare and organize parts and materials for maintenance operations
- Communicate effectively with vendors, the Fleet Manager, maintenance personnel, and other internal team members
- Support the Fleet Manager with daily parts, purchasing, inventory, and administrative needs
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned projects and responsibilities
Qualifications
- Previous fleet-related, parts, purchasing, maintenance, automotive, diesel, heavy-equipment, or related experience preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and a general understanding of vehicle and equipment parts
- Familiarity with heavy equipment and diesel machinery preferred
- Experience with parts procurement, purchasing, inventory, or vendor coordination preferred
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with the Fleet Manager and maintenance team
- Ability to learn new systems, parts, and processes quickly
- Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is a plus
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required
- Reliable and interested in long-term employment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 25 lbs as needed
- Ability to walk between office, warehouse, receiving, and maintenance areas
- Ability to perform repetitive data entry and administrative tasks throughout the day
