Furniture Builder

Frame Builder: 

• Read, interpret, and work from shop spec sheets.
• Select, measure, cut, and shape hardwood, plywood, and other wood materials using standard shop machinery (table saws, band saws, routers, shapers, and CNC routers).
• Assemble frame components using joinery techniques appropriate for upholstered furniture (doweled, corner-blocked, glued, screwed, and stapled joints).
• Ensure all built frames are structurally sound, square, level, and built to precise dimensions.
• Inspect finished frames to ensure smooth edges and proper preparation for webbers, springers, and upholsterers.
• Maintain equipment, perform routine tool maintenance, and keep a clean, safe workspace.

Qualifications

• Experience: 3+ years of experience in furniture frame building, cabinet making, or custom woodworking (upholstery frame experience strongly preferred).
• Tool Proficiency: Mastery of power tools and stationary shop equipment (table saws, miter saws, pneumatic staple/nail guns, shapers, sanders).
• Technical Skills: Ability to read shop drawings and blueprints accurately; strong understanding of wood species, grain directions, and structural integrity.
• Math & Measurement: Proficient with tape measures, calipers, and precise fractional/decimal conversions.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive manual work in a shop environment.
