Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (or Compact RN license, if applicable)
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Room (ER) nursing experience required
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
• Current AHA ACLS certification
• Current AHA PALS certification
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
• TNCC certification preferred
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Perform rapid patient assessments and prioritize care through effective triage.
• Provide emergency nursing care for trauma, cardiac, stroke, respiratory, and other critically ill patients.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and emergency interventions safely and accurately.
• Monitor patient conditions and respond quickly to changes in clinical status.
• Assist physicians during emergency procedures, trauma activations, and resuscitations.
• Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver outstanding patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge instructions when appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a high-volume Emergency Department.
• Proficiency with Epic or a similar EMR system.
• Excellent critical thinking, communication, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound clinical decisions in high-pressure situations.
