TUALATIN - TEST TECHNICIANS NEEDED

Job Description

The Test Technician supports day-to-day production by setting up, calibrating, and operating specialized test equipment to evaluate moderately complex electrical, electronic, and mechanical assemblies. This role develops and follows test specifications, methods, and procedures, and performs detailed troubleshooting to ensure products meet quality and performance standards. The position operates on a day shift schedule from Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and requires the ability to work independently with moderate supervision while collaborating effectively with other team members.

Responsibilities

• Select appropriate specialized test equipment for each assignment and perform complete set-up, calibration, and operation to test moderately complex circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies.
• Develop detailed test specifications, methods, and procedures to ensure consistent and accurate testing of digital and analog systems.
• Plan test layouts and perform complex testing operations on electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems using a variety of test equipment and measuring instruments.
• Conduct digital and/or analog systems testing, including functional verification, performance evaluation, and troubleshooting of issues as they arise.
• Use schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical problems in circuits and assemblies.
• Troubleshoot and repair issues identified during testing by applying strong knowledge of mechanics, flow control elements, and electronics.
• Monitor testing progress, relay concerns promptly, and provide clear and timely status reports to appropriate stakeholders.
• Document test results, observations, and corrective actions accurately using company tools and standard documentation practices.
• Operate and interpret readings from oscilloscopes and other electronic test instruments to verify performance and identify anomalies.
• Apply MRP concepts as needed to support production and testing workflows, including coordination with related departments.
• Exercise discretion and independent judgment when evaluating test results and recommending corrective actions or process improvements.
• Collaborate and interact professionally with other members of the organization to resolve issues and support production goals.
• Use MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and 10-key, to record data, prepare reports, and communicate findings.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in a cleanroom environment while following all safety and cleanliness procedures.
• Perform physical tasks as required by the role, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Work independently with moderate supervision, managing daily tasks and priorities to meet production and testing schedules.

Essential Skills

• 24+ years of production or related work experience in testing or a similar technical role.
• Vocational or technical training or equivalent experience in electronics, electrical, mechanical, or related disciplines.
• Digital and/or analog systems testing experience, including functional and performance testing.
• Hands-on experience with testing, including digital or analog testing of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret complicated drawings, schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
• Strong understanding of related mechanics and flow control elements.
• Working knowledge of MRP concepts as they relate to production and testing operations.
• Proficiency in using test equipment such as oscilloscopes and other electronic test instruments.
• Experience with calibration, wiring, and operation of test equipment for circuits, components, and assemblies.
• Good visual and manual dexterity to handle small components and precise test operations.
• Ability to use a variety of testing and measuring instruments accurately and safely.
• Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment when interpreting test data and resolving issues.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting, documentation, and team interaction.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and 10-key entry.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds as required by daily tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Vocational or technical training or equivalent in electronics, electrical technology, mechanical technology, or a related field.
• Experience as a test technician or in a similar role involving electronics, wiring, and test equipment.
• Experience in both electrical and mechanical troubleshooting in a production environment.
• Familiarity with test specification development, including methods and procedures documentation.
• Experience working with oscilloscopes, test fixtures, and other specialized test equipment.
• Comfort working independently with moderate supervision while managing multiple tasks.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when documenting test results and status reports.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a production or engineering environment.

Work Environment

The position involves regular use of electronic and mechanical test equipment, including oscilloscopes, measuring instruments, and specialized testing tools. Employees should expect a mix of desk-based tasks, such as documentation and reporting, and hands-on work at test stations, including wiring, calibration, and troubleshooting. The physical environment requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds, and to follow cleanroom protocols and safety guidelines at all times.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tualatin, OR.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
