Job Description
This role focuses on preparing and painting vehicle bodies, assemblies, and parts using industrial spray-booth equipment. You will perform all aspects of paint preparation and application, including mixing primers and paints, setting up and operating spray systems, and ensuring coatings meet required specifications. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow technical instructions and specifications, and a commitment to safety and quality throughout the production process.
Responsibilities- Prepare vehicle bodies, assemblies, and parts for painting by performing all necessary surface preparation, including body filling, glazing, sanding, scuffing, and cleaning.
- Perform spray-booth painting on a wide range of vehicle bodies, assemblies, and parts using industrial spray guns and related equipment.
- Mix and apply primers, paints, and other coatings according to specified formulas and manufacturer recommendations.
- Set up, adjust, and operate automatic spray equipment and bake cycles to achieve required coating thickness and finish quality.
- Monitor coating thickness and appearance to ensure all work meets applicable specifications and quality standards.
- Interpret and follow prints, sketches, written instructions, procedures, and applicable military and commercial specifications.
- Clean and maintain paint equipment, spray booths, air systems, and work areas to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Work collaboratively with Project Management, Engineering, Operations, and other departments to support smooth production flow.
- Communicate clearly with team members and other departments regarding job status, issues, and requirements.
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of paints and chemicals.
- Maintain punctuality for work, meetings, and all scheduled activities to support production schedules and team coordination.
- At least 1 year of painting experience in an industrial, automotive, or similar environment.
- Proficiency in industrial painting and paint preparation, including body filling, glazing, sanding, scuffing, and cleaning.
- Experience operating paint booths and using spray guns for production painting.
- Ability to read and use a measuring tape accurately down to 1/16 of an inch.
- Knowledge of paint types, painting materials, and their characteristics, including proper mixing and application.
- Ability to use tools in elevated positions, including working above head level for extended periods.
- Ability to grasp and maintain grip for long periods while using power tools such as paint guns, air nozzles, and other electric and pneumatic tools.
- Ability to interpret and follow prints, sketches, instructions, procedures, and applicable specifications.
- Strong commitment to safety, including adherence to safety protocols and proper use of equipment.
- Reliable punctuality and consistent attendance for work and scheduled activities.
- Experience in auto body or industrial painting environments.
- Familiarity with production workflows and working to schedules and quality standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Project Management, Engineering, and Operations.
- Attention to detail and quality-focused mindset when applying coatings and inspecting finishes.
- Comfort working with automatic spray equipment and managing bake cycles.
- Willingness to maintain and clean paint equipment, spray booths, and air systems regularly.

Work EnvironmentYou will primarily work in a dedicated paint booth environment using industrial spray equipment, paint guns, air nozzles, and other electric and pneumatic tools. The role involves standing for extended periods, working in elevated positions, and frequently using tools above head level. You will work around paints, primers, and related materials in a controlled setting that requires adherence to safety protocols, proper ventilation practices, and use of appropriate personal protective equipment. The environment is production-focused, with an emphasis on maintaining clean equipment, organized work areas, and consistent quality standards.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
