About this job
Job Description
Position purpose:-
Inspect our precision thin-metal parts and support timely, accurate release of conforming product. The role covers etched, formed, plated, and assembled components, including aerospace work, using engineering drawings, approved inspection instructions, and customer requirements.
Inspectors protect product quality while helping reduce delays at Final Inspection.
Key responsibilities:-
Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections as assigned. Confirm part number, revision, quantity, and applicable inspection requirements.
Read engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications. Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) appropriate to the assigned work.
Measure dimensions and thickness using suitable calibrated instruments, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and optical or vision equipment. Use CMM equipment when trained and authorized.
Inspect thin and delicate parts under magnification for burrs, scratches, contamination, plating defects, forming damage, and other specified visual conditions.
Handle parts carefully and use approved trays, fixtures, and protective methods to prevent damage during inspection and transfer.
Record actual inspection results accurately. Maintain lot and job traceability, inspection status, and required release documentation.
Identify and segregate suspect or nonconforming product. Document discrepancies and escalate promptly for authorized disposition before release.
Support first article inspection (FAI), including AS9102 documentation when required, and verify certificates and inspection records within the assigned scope.
Coordinate priorities and shift handoffs with Quality and Production. Report inspection blockers promptly and support corrective actions and process improvements.
Qualifications required for both hiring levels:-
High school diploma or equivalent, or relevant manufacturing experience demonstrating the required skills.
Strong attention to detail, basic shop math, and the ability to work accurately with decimals, fractions, and inch or metric measurements.
Ability to follow written instructions, record results clearly, use basic computer applications, and communicate quality concerns professionally.
Careful handling of small parts, willingness to learn, reliable attendance, and commitment to following inspection and safety procedures.
Availability for the specified second shift and initial first-shift training. Overtime availability should be discussed during screening.
Candidate profiles Requirement:-
Experienced inspector
Experience
Prior hands-on dimensional and visual inspection of manufactured parts.
Drawings and tools
Demonstrated drawing interpretation and practical use of micrometers and calipers. GD&T knowledge appropriate to the role.
Independence
Able to progress to routine assigned inspections with limited supervision after our training and competency verification.
Entry level inspector
Experience
Manufacturing exposure is helpful. Strong aptitude and trainability may substitute for prior QC experience.
Drawings and tools
Basic measurement and math skills, with the ability to learn drawings and inspection tools.
Independence
Works under supervision until trained and signed off for each assigned inspection task.
Preferred technical and aerospace experience:-
Inspection of thin-metal, etched, formed, or plated components; optical comparators, microscopes, vision systems, or CMM operation.
AS9100D and ISO 9001 quality systems, AS9102 FAI, ASME Y14.5 GD&T, material traceability, and customer-specific requirements.
ERP or digital inspection records, nonconformance reporting, basic root cause analysis or SPC, and awareness of applicable ITAR and DFARS requirements.
