Job Title: Design Technician
Location: Mounds View, MN
Shift: Day Shift (Monday – Friday)
Pay Rate: $38.00/hr
Overview
As a Design Technician, you will play a critical role in new product development by ensuring the quality, reliability, and safety of complex medical device systems. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to support systems integration, develop test setups, and execute system verification protocols in an active laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute hands-on manual and automated test activities, including functional, stress, alpha, and beta testing across integrated hardware and software platforms.
- Conduct system verification tests according to approved procedures and assist engineers with test protocol development.
- Run structured project test suites, interpret and record test data accurately, generate technical summary reports, and present findings to engineering teams.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve general technical issues related to test setups, equipment behavior, and system performance.
- Manage and track laboratory test equipment, ensuring all test instrumentation remains calibrated, properly maintained, and audit-ready.
- Collaborate regularly with test leads, design engineers, and lab personnel to prioritize test queues, troubleshoot anomalies, and improve overall lab workflow efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent (vocational, technical education, or relevant technical certification welcomed).
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in testing, laboratory operations, or technical product support.
- Core Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to strictly follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), testing standards, and laboratory best practices.
- Strong verbal and written technical communication skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team setting.
Preferred Qualification
- Prior testing experience in a regulated industry (medical device, aerospace, or diagnostics).
- Familiarity with setting up integrated test environments combining hardware and software components.
- Experience configuring and operating mobile test devices (such as iPads, tablets, or smartphones) paired with external hardware systems.
